Santa has gone home again and everybody is sobering up from Christmas and so are we. The first Christmas at Bondiya was very nice. The special xmas menu was very popular and all the guests left satisfied. Next year we`ll do it again. The take out xmas chicken was delicious as well.

After 2 busy days, Eriko and I had a chicken and a nice glass of wine after closing time.

Next up is the osechi. A few more days of normal work, then osechi and then we are closed for 10 days.

Chicken

Im getting ready to prepare 18 Christmas chickens. Peeled the potatoes already. Tomorrow I`ll make the stuffing, bread, cabbage, mushrooms and onions. I`ll also make a nice red wine/demi glace sauce to go with it, and then Friday I`ll throw  all those chickens into the oven for 3 hours. Actually, our red house wine goes really well with this tasty chicken. Pick up a bottle for just 1690 yen.

Yes, the holiday season has started again. Last wednesday was our last day off and we are open straight until January the third. Yes, busy days but enjoying it a lot. We just had 2 great bonenkai parties last weekend. Check out the pics in the previous posts. Organizing all the shopping and ordering for the xmas chicken, xmas menu, osechi and the normal menu requires a lot of time and planning, but thats what cooking all about. Planning. That`s what I missed the most all these years, the exciting stress, (not the bad stress). Slowly the restaurant fills up with people, little by little the voices are getting louder and order tickets come in and suddenly there is this kind of panic and Eriko and I are running our #%s off. Yes, I like December. It`s the most wonderful busy time of the year.

Opening times

We have our regular opening hours and days, plus (only in December):
Dec 22nd (wed) open for lunch and dinner
Dec 23, 24, 25, Xmas menu plus regular menu for lunch and dinner
Dec 28th (tue) open for lunch and dinner
Dec 29th (wed) open for lunch and dinner
Dec 30 and 31st (thu/fri), closed due osechi prep (pick up from 16:30)
Jan 1 and 2 open for dinner only with a limited menu (fish shop is closed).
And for you convenience, we are closed from 3 until 12 Jan.
We hope to see you soon and dont forget the xmas dinner offer. Book a table for 4 and you ll get a bottle of house wine free.

At bondiya we are trying to stay up to date with the latest cooking trends, ingredients, popular cuisines, star restaurants etc, etc, so we can provide you with the best menu in the region. So, to keep you informed about the current ideas for next months menu, here is a test menu I have to try out this week and if succesful, who knows.
Starter:
Assange blinis with secret documents sauce.
Leak soup
Main:Original “real American” embarrasment steak.
Worldwide support risotto.
Dessert:
Swedish hoax charges with a British bail sugar.

This menu costs 240.000 pounds pp.

Family dinner

Family dinner

Every day between 5 and 6 we have dinner together at Bondiya and catch up on each others daily adventures. Today we had curry udon made by Tiara and a fruit/yoghurt dessert made by Skye.
