Last week, Eriko and I went to the Japan Food expo in Tokyo in the Makuhari Messe. We left on Tuesday night by car and slept a bit in the morning. At 10:00 we met up with Aoki san, Bondiya’s alcohol delivery, and the first part of the day we strolled thru the Japan section. Every prefecture had it’s own area where food producers were promoting their products to exporters, wholesalers, restaurants, and other food industry people. It was very interesting to taste and see all these kind of products and we got loads of samples and leaflets. We are definitely use some of these ingredients. The second part of the day, we spent walking around the foreign products and different countries promotion stands. Here we could taste wine, beer, food, snacks and many other things. Eriko and I enjoyed tasting all kinds of wines. We met a lot of interesting people from many countries. At 3 we were exhausted and decided to go back. Next year again???

The next few weeks we’ll have Grolsch beer on the blackboard for just 840 yen. We had it before and was very popular, so we’ll have it on the menu again for a few weeks. Grolsch is a Dutch beer that is slightly more bitter than regular beers and comes in a cool re-closable bottle (450ml).
In the picture, Eriko just brings in a fresh case of Grolsch.
Also on special this month are the fried oysters. At the moment the oysters are big and juicy and served with the garlic mayonnaise and a cabbage salad, a very good extra dish to the normal menu. Excellent with a Grolsch beer. A plate with 6~8 fried oysters is 990 yen.
The soup for the month March is mustard soup. We had this on the lunch menu in February and was very popular. The Bondiya mustard soup isn’t spicy or sharp in taste, but is hearty and smooth. 590 yen for a (big) bowl.

I will be going back home to Holland for a short time in the beginning of February to visit my family and friends. Bondiya will be closed from Wednesday, February 1st until Wednesday, February 8th and the lunch on Thursday the 9th to prepare for dinner.
It has been 3 years since my last time in Winterswijk (my hometown) and I’m looking forward to meet my niece and nephews, who are all born recently. Also, I want to drink some Grolsch beer from the tap (currently available in 450ml bottles at Bondiya), eat some typical Dutch winter food, buy some books, clothes and just walk around in the supermarket. I will finish my 5 day stay in Amsterdam and a nice night out partying (Amsterdam is famous for it’s nightlife) and some more shopping.
Our excuses for the inconvenience for being closed for 1 week.
CLOSED FROM Tue Jan 31 after lunch until dinner 18:00 on Thu February 9th.
