The end of the year is getting closer and closer. 2 more months and it is already 2012. As usual, we will have the osechi boxes available and they are on sale from this week. There are 2 boxes in 1 set. 1 filled with meat dishes and the other with fish dishes. We made a few changes from last year. A few of the most popular dishes are the honey roast duck, wagyu beef, homemade smoked chicken, coppa ham, pork fillet in mushroom sauce and of course the filled eggs. Some of the best dishes out of the fish box are, Tartar, graved lax, grilled tuna and scallops and new this year, sauteed snapper (madai) and shrimp fritters.
An osechi box set is 13.500 yen and ready to pick up at Bondiya on December 31st between 16:30 and 22:00. We will have wine bottles available that day, so you can accompany your osechi with some delicious wine. To order the Bondiya osechi boxes, please fill out the order sheet available at Bondiya or Y’s laboratory, or send us an e-mail on bondiya.ise@gmail.com , on our facebook page or call 0596-291-168. Orders are taken until December 10th and only 30 sets are available.
If you have any questions, please contact us. We hope to see you soon for that order sheet.
Enjoy the last weeks of the year.

Wine

We just made a new wine list with almost all of the Bondiya wines, in the menu, so it will be easier to see what is available and in what price range. We are selling a few older wines from stock and make room for new names. Check out the new list and try a glass or bottle. Here are some of our personal favorites.

It finally cooled down a bit. Those hot, humid days are getting less frequent and it is actually a bit cold tonight. Fall has started. There was this big typhoon a few days ago with loads of rain and we had a little flooding at Bondiya again, but not too serious. With the summer behind us, we are getting ready for a new season with new things at Bondiya. A special wine weekend is coming up, a few new dishes on the menu and October will have a new lunch menu again. Also, we are slowly starting to think about Christmas, bonenkais and osechi. We are building up to the end of the year.
If you are planning an end of the year party or just a party with your friends or collegues, think about Bondiya. We have very interesting private parties for bigger groups on good value. Menus start from 2000 yen (15 people or more), 2500, 3000, 3500,etc, and all you can drink offers as well. Please contact us for reservations, inquiries or availability.
Osechi will be another big thing for us. Every year we sell these new years boxes for 13.500 yen. They are stuffed with all kinds of Bondiya favorites accompanied by a baquette and optional Bondiya wine.
Soon more information and pictures about osechi.

Like I wrote in a previous post, it’s so hot. Still, after almost 10 years in Japan, I’m still not used to the heat in summer. In Holland, when it is hot, at least it cooles down in the evening, but here it’s hot all the time. The good thing about the summer is all the activities. Our kids will have summer holiday soon, so on our days off, we have already planned several “summer activities”. Beach, river, pools and barbeques, but as well a short trip to Kobe. The Ise fireworks festival is this weekend as well. Always, this time of year, there are several good-bye parties for some foreigners and several birthday parties. So, for example, there was Matt’s birthday party last Saturday night. He had a few shots and beers at Bondiya and later we continued the night elsewhere.

Happy birthday, Matt

This week, a new order of wine arrived and we have a few very interesting new choices on the wine list. For example, an excellent fruity sauvignon blanc from the Marlbourough area in New Zealand. Eriko and I just had a bottle last night and this is the perfect wine for a hot sweaty night. We serve this nice chilled white wine for just 2990 yen. Also, a recommended red wine at Bondiya is this nice “cotes du bourg” wine from the Bordeaux area. The aromas of black fruits and vanilla suit red meat very well. Try this wine in combination with the duck or steak at Bondiya. A full bottle is just 2400 yen. Come and try them before they are gone.
